(( Yes. Yes I have read The Hobbit. I read it before reading the LOTR trilogy to be thorough. BEFORE THE FILMS WERE ANNOUNCED TO BE BEING MADE. All I had to go on for mental imagery was the Rankin Bass animated films( The Hobbit and The Return of the King, not even bothering with Fellowship or Towers), such as they were, which left out Legolas, Gimli, Boromir… I can’t remember if Denathor attempts to immolate just himself or Faramir as well in that movie, because I can’t remember if Faramir was even there. Eowyn is there for her awesome moment, and Theodin, to witness her awesome moment… It also did this thing where it implied that Hobbits were evolving taller and would marry into humans eventually, which is the opposite of how their heights are going in the books. BUT I WATCHED THOSE MOVIES SO MANY TIMES WHEN I WAS LITTLE! FROG GOLLUM! *Coughs* Because Gimli was left out of the animated films, my namelexia had me mentally pronouncing his name Gimili for the first two thirds of LOTR. Good times. My sister didn’t make it past Concerning Hobbits, though.))

((So, since I posted this in the middle of the night, and no one seems to have noticed it. I’m linking it now in case people want to see it. It’s my take on Chrysalis’ origins and her role before…

It might turn into a Wicked kind of deal, if you get my meaning.))

A long long time ago, there was an alicorn who was in charge of making sure love spread throughout the kingdom, and helping those ponies who found one another live in harmony together. If her influence didn’t work, it was because the two did not have enough in common to hold a relationship together, and so her failures, she thought, were simply means of saving future pain to Ponies. But her magic never worked when she tried to find her own special somepony. She worked in the shadow of the matriarch of her dwindling race and Crown Princess Celestia, ensuring the subjects coupled and multiplied in as harmonious way they could, filling their land with the growing population.

However, one day, after failing to woo yet another eligible stallion, she could not take it any longer. All of this love that flowed around her and she could have none to herself. She researched the forces that backed up her spells and influences, the rhythm of the seasons, the flow of the tides. Finally, she concocted a potion. She called upon the last of her failures for tea.

Slipping the love potion; concocted from cloud fluff, the color of a newly cast rainbow, and stirred with one of her own flight feathers; into the two cups, the young Mi Amore Chrysalis drank what would be known as the Love Poison.
